The Friesian horse is truly a remarkable breed apart with their long wavy manes and tails, high head carriage, and feathered high stepping action. Originally from Friesland, they were likely prized as war horses across Europe. The breed almost became extinct, but has grown to be a beloved favorite in competition both in dressage and harness. The Friesian stallion depicted in the drawing is none other than the popular Friesian stallion, Keegan Jewel, owned by Trails End Ranch. I received permission from the original photographer, Larissa Allen to draw him as just observing this maginificent unique equine is enough to inspire any artist.
